Like many of us, my
fascination with the movies began at a very young age. The sketchbooks of my
childhood are overflowing with felt pen recreations of scenes from Star
Wars, Zorro, Popeye, Flash Gordon and Superman.
In 1979 I got my first copy of American Cinematographer and learned all about the making of The Muppet Movie. My fate was sealed.
I shot my first complete short film on Super8 in the spring of 1985. I was reintroduced to Super8 some years later while attending Toronto's York University, where I completed an Honours Bachelor of Fine Arts in Film Production in 1995. Then it was off to Singapore for a brief stint teaching introductory film production at Ngee Ann Polytechnic. I returned to Canada and began working with I.A.T.S.E. International Cinematographers Guild, first as an Assistant and later an Electronic Cameraperson. In 2007 I moved with my family to the United Kingdom, and I now live and work in London.
To date I have four digital features under my belt, the recently wrapped No Ordinary Trifle, the soon to be released 13 HRS, a British zombie horror S.N.U.B! and a Canadian
indie superhero hit Sidekick. I have also collaborated on dozens of
award winning short films in a multitude of formats. I have worked
with virtually all 35mm and 16mm motion picture cameras and the full range of
digital video cameras from Red One to HD Cam to MiniDV.
Always looking for opportunities to expand my work, I have recently shot a handful of music videos and low budget commercials for web and broadcast.
My work as a Cinematographer has been seen worldwide, from Dawson City to Singapore. Films that I shot have screened at:
The CFC Worldwide Short
Film Festival, The Montreal World Film Festival, Tribeca Film Festival, The
